Why choose us?
1: We fish like it’s our job... because it is...
Fishing is our career and our sole source of income; therefore we take it very seriously. We spend every day of the season out on the ice, paying close attention to ice conditions, weather patterns, and the locations of active schools of fish. We also keep detailed records of our catches and relate them back to location, time of year, weather conditions, the amount of snow on the ice, and the successful presentations being used. In turn, this allows us to build a vast bank of information to put successful patterns together – day after day, and year after year.
2: We take a scientific approach...
All of our specialists have backgrounds in fisheries biology and before the ice even starts forming they are busy marking underwater structure with GPS technology, weed beds, rock humps, shoals, and other structure that have the potential to hold numbers of fish all season are targeted. Quite simply, our background in fish biology allows us to put together very complex patterns, trends and presentations .
3: The mobility factor...
The fish in the Bay of Quinte are migratory; therefore, they are constantly on the move. As the season progresses, the fish can move from hour to hour and the productive spots are continuously changing. There is a saying on Quinte: “Today’s treasure is tomorrow’s desert”. This holds very true as fish travel throughout the Bay and leave the less experienced anglers behind. Our top of the line ice huts and equipment allow us total mobility; enabling us to pack up and move locations as required in order to keep you on the fish.
4: Focus on quality...
To provide personalized and detailed service the ideal group size is between 2 - 8 anglers, but arrangements can be made for larger groups. We like to work with 1 - 4 guests per guide while on the ice. This gives the guides the flexibility we need to make detailed adjustments to location and presentation, and at the same time, decrease the "ice noise" for those days when the fish move into shallow water. Regardless of your group's ice fishing experience, QHS guides will tailor their instruction and advice to the individual needs of the anglers in your group.
5: No hidden pricing...
